Let's continue our...REAL WORLD UNIT
ACCOUNTING 10 STUDENTS ~THANKS FOR JOINING THE SUPPLEMENTAL LEARNING ADVENTURE...
Welcome to a new way of learning...I am truly working on many projects and ideas but it makes sense to continue our Real World Unit!!!!
Remember, you found a great apartment to rent. (Look for a 'real' one bedroom apartment to rent....copy and paste information in a Word Document or take a picture of it with the details...so we can look at it later for our budgeting activity) -- ensure you know the rent and the damage deposit (if damage deposit is not listed, it will be the same as the month’s rent; ensure you know whether utilities (power, water, heating) are included or not. What about internet/wifi or cable? What about parking? Do you have find another apartment because your other one is at school....that's ok...hop on Kijiji and look ???
Remember this....You found a job related to accounting and finance, wrote a cover letter and most of you completed your interviews. (we can figure out how to finish those!) I have all of these projects are at school and will get them when I am able to go there.....:)
ADVENTURE TASK #1 -- HOP ONTO THE WEBSITE www.floorplanner.com (I hope you remember your username and password. If not, then you may have to restart. Just to refresh your memory of the project: HOP ONTO floorplanner.com and begin designing the apartment that you envision that you rented above…ENSURE YOU ARE IN FEET AND INCHES.... Choose the size that you wish...I suggest max: 1000 square feet -- 25 ft by 40 ft……FOR THE ENTIRE APARTMENT - ensure to add doors and windows
- change flooring
- add furniture in each room
- keep track of your progress through working in 2-D and then look at it in 3-D
-----The best way to show me your completed project is to take a picture of it in 2-D and in 3-D and either e-mail it to me at [email protected] or submit it to me with this form (your name and your e-mail :) or I am figuring out other ways to submit projects!)
ADVENTURE TASK 2-- Thank you for all of the hard work in floorplanner.com on your beautiful and unique apartments. Now, it's time to go shopping! Have some fun! Make some choices!!!! list most of the items that you put in your design (furniture &/or electronics &/or accessories, etc.) Fill out the chart to show the: Item, Room, Store, Price, tax (Pst & Gst 11% or just multiply your cost by 0.11) Then add the Price and tax together for the cost. Try to get 15 items and then get the totals of each column. Please choose what way you would like to complete this project depending on access to technology:
Excel: .xlsx .xls word: .docx .doc pdf or photo (that you can make on looseleaf :) and shop on your phone! Have some fun!
Proud of you Accounting 10 students!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO RUSH ON THESE TWO PROJECTS...I WAS THINKING IDEALLY BY APRIL 21ST??? This project leads into another project about shopping with Credit Cards and the Awareness. :) TEXT ME DURING SCHOOL HOURS ON MY WORK CELL 623-244-0425 OR E-MAIL ME ANYTIME AT [email protected]
ADVENTURE TASK 3 - Thank you for all of the furniture lists. Love it! We can see that it costs quite a bit. Soooo...I want to show you the positives and negatives about credit cards. But first...I want you to ask your parents, grandparents, aunt, uncles or whoever....even me -- these questions:
1. What is one thing that you wished you would have known about having a credit card?
2. What is one piece of advice that you would give me about credit cards?
Text these answers to me or write them on a paper and text them to me....or a video lol
623-244-0425 or e-mail [email protected]
No answer is wrong!
A simple two question mini assignment to get us ready for credit cards next week.
It's a great day....out of the office...Miss you! Marnz
Soon, I will schedule a google chat or hangout or meet.....Stay tuned. Marnz
